I am a very ambitious young adult who is very passionate about mental health and helping others. I have known that I wanted to work in the mental health field ever since I was a teenager. I am still just as passionate about it now as I was then, which is why I'm pursuing a career as an art therapist and plan to specialize in trauma and work with children one day. I just recently graduated from RCBC with my associates degree in psychology and will continue to further my education until I get my Master's degree.
I was previously a committed Unit Secretary well-versed in patient admissions and discharges, including paperwork processing and appointment scheduling. Industrious and detail-oriented with a drive for assisting physicians and nurses to provide superior medical care. Accustomed to cultivating an efficient and productive atmosphere to execute nursing station operations. This gave me a lot of experience in the medical field, but what I'm really passionate about is mental health.
After working as a unit secretary, I started to get the mental health experience that I had been craving through my most recent job as a support specialist at Kairos House in Mt. Holly which is a residential program for adults transferring out of the hospital setting who struggle with co-occuring substance abuse and mental illness. There I was able to get experience as a support specialist, offering exceptional care in the residential setting and offering support to our consumers through supporting medication management, observing behaviors, and teaching healthy coping skills.
I want to continue to make a difference in the lives of people who struggle with mental health and help them to heal through art one day.
