I have been in the optical field/customer service for over 17 years and have thoroughly enjoyed it. What I've enjoy most is simply helping people. With vision or anything medical people can get confused and overwhelmed with information, such as diagnosis, treatment options, spectacles lens enhancements and features. I've take pride over the years in my work and the product I recommend to people. I feel that the key factors to a great experience for the client is receiving a high level of customer service and to have a great product delivered to them with a smile.

I ended my time at Shopko as a manager in training, which entailed to learning the processes of what is needed to become a manager of my own store. With this position I help the manager with store operations to ensure we deliver excellent customer service daily. With my years of customer service in the optical field and leadership skills I had become the go to person for problem solving and finding resolution. I've taken pride to be able to deescalate situations and listen to the patients needs. I am also familiar on filling claims with vision and medical insurance companies to garner payment for optical services. I took the initiative of keeping the customer viewing areas well kept and organized to insure the best customer experience.

Worked closely with patients in selecting the most flattering frames for their features, with taking in consideration of the prescription requirements to ensure the best vision. Completed detailed measurements to insure the prescription and visual center was correct. Worked with many systems and helped keep the system direct to optical up to date with lens options, corresponding diagnostic codes, and pricing. Billed many insurances and understood the breakdown of benefits. Instructed patients on proper insertion, removal, and cleaning techniques for contact lenses.

I managed the optical department that had an in-store lab. That gave me the ability to assist in picking out frames and lenses with the patient, then having a complete pair ready in a hour. Managed the frame boards and made sure we had enough inventory to properly keep them filled. Kept inventory of finished lenses as well. Worked closely with the doctor to aid in the proper patient hand off.

This was the start of my optical carrier and where i learned the ropes of everything vision. Started as an receptionist, helped the doctor as a tech, then became the eyeglass manager. Trained employee's to perform work duties associated with optical. Set goals for the opticians and ensured daily tasks were performed. Kept inventory of frames boards and made sure they were fully stocked.
