Design, Print and Ship Manager
Office Depot
Charleston, SC
07.2007 - 09.2010
My primary focus was to make sure that we met the request of every customer who had a design or printing need. Most of the clientele that I dealt with needing help with a project for an upcoming meeting.
It was my department’s responsibility to make sure that happened. This could’ve been something as simple as laminating, binding a presentation, a simple copy, newsletters, or creating Custom business cards.
We also ordered checks and customer multipart forms. As a manager, I oversaw promised scheduled times, and Quality products were being produced.
As the manager of this department, I was responsible for a budget of around $500,000 per year. My employees knew on a daily basis what our budget for the day was and where we were standing at any given time of the month. I was responsible for a monthly business management review (PNL), which allowed my Regional Director's know where we were financially and our plans to push that even further to obtain the highest financial results possible.
I was also responsible for making sure that my weekly billing statements matched up with the orders that we had produced by outside vendors and that we were not being overcharged and/ or that we were getting any credit we deserved. I learned many computer programming this industry and am for the most part a self-taught learner.
As a part of the store management team my responsibilities were not limited to my department. I was responsible for opening or closing the store. I managed the cash office, safe and bank deposits. I was responsible for receiving inventory trucks along with reconciling every item received sometime 1000 plus items at a time.
I became forklift certified. As a leader I was very fair and compassionate towards my employees and customers but driven to always keep the bottom line a priority.
