Performs administrative clerical support work in the capacity of a Medical Clerk III for the Patient Administration Division section of Brooke Army Medical Center. Provides guidance and assistance in the development, implementation, maintenance of Defense Health Agency (DHA) policies and procedures covering the privacy of and access to patient health information in compliance with federal and state laws and privacy practices.

  • Greets visitors and answers phone calls to direct patients to appropriate clinic and/or section.

    Protected Health Information (PHI) inquiries.

    information related to the admissions and dispositions of patients.
  • Prepare admission packets ensuring all admissions have door tag, Notice of Privacy and Practice pamphlet,
    Patient’s Rights and Responsibilities and Active-Duty Notification slip upon admission.
  • Collects Third Party Insurance Form DD 2569 and uploads information in patients’ charts.
  • Assists the Emergency Department, and Nursing Staff with the transfer of patients to and from other healthcare
    facilities through the Patient Transfer Service.
  • Reviews request for a Memorandum of Transfer (MOT), BAMC Form 983 ensuring there are no errors, and that
    MOT is complete and accurate with patient demographics and all other required information.
  • Receives and processes requests for patient health information in accordance with Defense Health Agency
    (DHA) and Hospital policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the collection and or retrieving of valuables and patient belongings securing them in the Patient Trust
    Fund and baggage room until final disposition of patients; discharged or transferred.
  • Initiates and completes Patient Movement Request (PMR) in TRAC2ES ensuring the accurate tracking and
    movement of patients.
  • Prepares flight manifest for incoming and outgoing patients, family members, and medical attendants ensuring
    manifest is distributed to appropriate staff and support personnel.
  • Utilize different software systems to generate memos, letters, reports and privacy related correspondence.
