Amaya Desir

My name is Amaya Desir, I am 17 years old and I am going into my Senior year at Winter Haven High School. I would characterize myself as an smart, resilient, goal setting and goal getting person. Throughout my young life I have had some traumatic situation from the lost of my grandfather, my father and my great grandmother all within a 3 year span. However instead allowing each of these moment to knock me off track, I choose for it to be the steam in my engin that drives me to be someone great everyday! From the first visit that i made to Howard University I knew that this was where I wanted to be, from the rich history that the university have, to seeing so many people that look like me thriving in an environment that has created so many great people like Elijah Cummings, Chadwick Boseman, and Thurgood Marshall just to name a few. To be apart of the Howard legacy would not only be an honor but also a blessing to me and my family. To be able to experience this two week financial program will not only provide me with a lifetime of knowledge but also the memory of a lifetime.
