Chemical Dependency Counselore - Trainee

  • I was a Chemical Dependency Counselor Trainee who worked with individuals struggling with a drug and or alcohol addiction. I was responsible for working with the South Dakota Women's State Prison in accordance with their Intensive Methamphetamine Treatment program. After individuals would complete Phase II of the IMT program at the prison, they would transition to the halfway house, where I would ensure they were headed towards their goals pertaining to their recovery. And work very closely for the duration of their stay in the halfway house.
  • I also started the Adolescent Aftercare Program which consisted of meeting with adolescents ages 12-18 that have been struggling with chemical dependency issues. Often these kids were returning from a short term residential treatment facility and being placed back in their previous living environment which often was detrimental to their sobriety, or lack thereof.
  • In addition, I was a facilitator for the DUI course for the State of South Dakota. I also ran an Adult Relapse Prevention group which was held weekly and specifically designed for the residents of Stepping Stones. Along with this I also an Adolescent Diversion Program every month.

  • I oversaw weekly inventory reports which were presented to the Board of Directors indicating our inventory numbers as well as our sales and annual revenue.
  • This position gave me the experience to work with people who were responsible in running a million-dollar company. It was my duty to provide superior customer support to our department as well as our outside companies.
