Work History

Teacher

Rochester School District
08.2017 - Current
  • While teaching 5th grade at Grand Mound Elementary with the Rochester School District, I followed district adopted curriculum in order to provide clear and intentional instruction with high expectations for student achievement. I provided engaging learning experiences daily, differentiating instruction based on individual student needs and learning styles. I implemented Structured Student Talk and Kagan Strategies in my classroom daily, engaged students in Number Talks and adapted lesson plans in order to fulfill the needs of each student. I established excellent rapport with students, families and coworkers through constant communication and collaboration, honesty and integrity. I fostered a safe learning environment with classroom management, clear expectations, Growth Mindset and a well functioning and attractive classroom set up. I led my students with a positive attitude, encouragement and the knowledge that all students can learn. I planned and led the end of assembly activities at the weekly student of the month assemblies, was an active member of the SBAC cheer squad in planning and implementing activities like parody songs, to help students become excited about state testing, was an active member of the Living Kindly group helping to foster a community of kindness at GMES and Unity throughout the district - which led to a t-shirt for every student K-5, paid for in full through donations and a Penny Drive!
  • While teaching 7th grade at Rochester Middle School with the Rochester School District, I continued to use district-adopted curriculum to create engaging, inclusive, and standards-based learning experiences aligned with Washington State standards. Driven by passion and grit, I consistently fostered student buy-in and academic success, maintaining a 98–100% passing rate in Social Studies through dynamic instruction and relationship-building. I proudly served as the 7th Grade Team Leader for two years, and am currently the Social Studies Instructional Team Leader, where I have modeled healthy relationships, collaboration on Essential Standards and Unit Planning, and professional excellence. In both roles, I helped facilitate team alignment, curriculum planning, and student-centered initiatives across the middle school. As a dedicated advocate for equity and belonging, I provided professional development for staff focused on building inclusive classroom environments and participated on the district’s Equity Committee. I also created and led staff training on Social Emotional Learning (SEL), and authored school-wide SEL lessons for Enrichment classes, ensuring alignment with WA state standards and promoting a safe, emotionally intelligent learning environment for all students. In an effort to deepen student connection to local history and community, I invited guest speakers such as Tribal Historians from our local tribe to share their perspectives in our 7th grade Social Studies classes, enriching the curriculum with real-world voices and fostering cultural relevance and respect. This past year, I played a key role in supporting the implementation of MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) at our school by sharing insights gained through OSPI training, collaborating closely with staff, contributing to strategic planning, and designing and teaching a targeted Reading Intervention class for 7th grade students.
  • Throughout all of my time teaching in the district, I have consistently developed strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues by maintaining open lines of communication and fostering a supportive learning environment. I have also had great success with enhanced classroom engagement through the use of interactive teaching methods, such as group projects and hands-on activities.

Prevention Educator

Human Response Network
09.2006 - 06.2008
  • As a Prevention Educator, I led training sessions on best practices in Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault prevention education, equipping staff and community members with effective strategies for outreach and engagement. I developed inclusive, tailored lesson plans and multimedia educational materials that addressed the unique needs of diverse populations, while also promoting awareness of risk factors and protective measures. I contributed to school-wide policy development aimed at reducing bullying and other risk behaviors, and collaborated with parents to reinforce prevention messaging at home. Through organizing public workshops, special events, and speaker panels, I increased community understanding and engagement in prevention efforts. I partnered with local organizations to expand program reach, conducted ongoing research to keep content aligned with emerging trends, and maintained detailed records for grant reporting and program evaluation. My responsibilities also included creating health education materials, assisting in the development of training resources, and ensuring compliance with all legal and ethical standards.
