During my 13 years as an educator, I've had the opportunity to work with hundreds of students and dozens of co-workers. I was able to create orchestra programs in two districts, one in Warren County Schools and the second for Barren County Schools. This called for me to work with several administrators from each building as well as top administrators in each district and the public to bring this vision to life. After five years leading the Barren County High School Orchestra, I brought them to the level where they were able to audition for a festival at Carnegie Hall in NYC and earn a spot in this prestigious event. We were the only ensemble accepted from the state of Kentucky and I was the only female conductor accepted into the event. During my time as a teacher, I significantly developed my conflict resolution skills including assisting others in their personal development with this imperative skill. I also successfully worked with staff and students from all backgrounds and personalities. I decided to leave the education profession due to sweeping changes that significantly changed the dynamic of the job.
