Currently work approximately 34 bed ER, including psychiatric emergency holding pod. Charge nurse, nurse preceptor and clinical staff nurse are current held roles at this facility.
Review patient laboratory results from Emergency Department result pool, work from home 4-6 hours/week. Determine whether care was appropriate or if new medication therapy needs to be added or removed. Direct contact with attending physicians and patients.
Cared for the pediatric population, from ages to days of birth to 25. Managed diseases such as: Cystic Fibrosis, Autism, MIS-C, COVID-19, RSV, tube feed dependence, suicide/toxic ingestion attempts, seizures, eating disorders, sepsis, and many post-surgical patients.
Finished the Nurse Residency Program at BMC in an observation status, telemetry monitored environment.
Gained knowledge about the basic care for patients of different cultures, as well as wisdom and respect for families on a medical/surgical/telemetry unit. Learned a variety of tasks from glucose monitoring, telemetry lead placement, EKGs, taking vitals, toileting patients, ambulating patients, and assisting nurses with tasks.
Started my career in the healthcare field on a medical/surgical/telemetry floor. Learned a basic skill set at the start of nursing school that allowed me to grow from a strong foundation.
