First Degree Black Belt - ATF Taekwondo, 2008, 2023, WT Taekwondo, ATF Taekwondo, Mixed Martial Arts, Brazilian Jiujitsu, Kickboxing

Martial arts has been a part of life since I could walk. Not only has it taught me self-defense, it has taught me respect for my elders, proper breathing techniques, and tenets of self-improvement; courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit. The tenet that I identify with most is perseverance. I was not dealt a winning hand in life, but I played that hand and have created the life that I want. The thing that has kept me going all of these years is hope. Perseverance and indomitable spirit; making the most out of every situation life throws at me, and never, ever, giving up. After many years of blood, sweat, and tears, I have achieved my first degree black belt in ATF Taekwondo. However, due to my current health state, I was unable to continue with the fast-paced nature of the sport and have had to sit out since. However, I hope to one day begin again through Tai Chi or another form of a slower-paced martial art.
