Assisted county office personnel with the administration of USDA disaster programs to assist agriculture producers in the region. Duties included field visits, inspections and spot checks as well as general office tasks such as filing, processing applications, acreage certifications and compliance.

Worked as FFT2 on a type 6 wildland fire engine. Participated in 21 day Forest Service hand crew roll outside Fairbanks, AK. Project duties included timber surveys, timber cruising, boundary marking, forest thinning, and property treatment to improve fire readiness. Fire season duties included equipment maintenance, drills/training, initial response to wildfires, direct/indirect attack on active fires, coordinating with state/federal/volunteer resources, patrolling and mop up of controlled/contained wildfires.

Officer in charge of a navigational watch, dynamic positioning officer, officer in charge of deck operations. Organized and loaded ship's stores, cargo and cable. Communicated instructions to deck gang during fiber optic cable installation operations, served as safety officer during cable operations, and kept accurate records during cable operations. Conducted inspections, training, and record keeping associated with all US Navy required force protection anti-terrorism programs, small arms, ship's reaction force, and chemical/biological/nuclear defense. Responsible for inspections, maintenance, and training for all safety and firefighting equipment including fire stations, fire extinguishers, portable pumps, breathing apparatus, power/ventilation, flooding, damage control, and safety of life at sea equipment. Assisted with passage planning, chart corrections, electronic navigation equipment maintenance, and weather forecasting for the safe navigation of the vessel.

Officer in charge of a navigational watch, passage planning, navigation equipment maintenance, chart inventory upkeep, and deck watch stander lead. Responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and training associated with all safety equipment, fire fighting equipment, small boats, and watch standing. Program coordinator for US Navy crane program overseeing maintenance, certification, and training for nuclear ordinance, and hazardous waste crane lift operations. Participated in fuel testing and ship to ship fuel/cargo transfer. In charge of response team for all firefighting, damage control, and medical/safety emergencies.
