Contribute to individualized education plans (IEPs) to promote student success and individualized program plans (IPPs) to facilitate increased resident engagement in daily activities.
Establish and implement customized intervention plans to improve motor, sensory processing, and self-regulation skills and optimize patient outcomes.
Actively participate in 75+ IEP/IPP meetings per year to discuss student and resident progress, goals, and address parent/guardian concerns.
Annually assess 20+ adolescent and adult residents with complex medical needs, such as spastic quadriparesis, cortical visual impairment, gastrostomy tubes, splinting, seizure disorder, muscular dystrophy, scoliosis, and severe contractures.
Deliver monthly and/or weekly training to paraprofessionals, teachers, nurses and CNAs, related to IEP/IPP goal training, sensory diets, sensory equipment, splints, and adaptive equipment.
Thoroughly record daily documentation notes in narrative form and type comprehensive evaluations.
Consult with orthotist regarding recommended upper extremity splints for residents and place splint orders to the Benik Corporation.
Administer standardized assessments (Sensory Profile 2, WRAVMA, School Function Assessment, BOT-II, Beery VMI), focused on evaluating, interpreting, and reporting data to the IEP team.
Research and order cost-efficient adaptive equipment and sensory supports for students and residents as recommended.
Mentor pre-OT, Level I, and Level II occupational therapy students.
Supervise occupational therapy assistants to monitor intervention implementation and documentation.
Maintain liability through implementation of evidence-based treatment to approximately 40 students per week.
Adhere to medical and behavior protocols to ensure the safety of students, residents, staff, and self.
