I started at BHM Regional Library with a small amount of knowledge in Finance. I had more experience with Human Resources. BHM took a chance in hiring me since I lacked the degree they were looking for. I am the only Employee in my department. I took initiative to seek training in order to operate the software. They had been without a Finance Officer for two months. It was very intimidating to say the least. I worked very hard and took courses at the local community college to help me along the way. I reached out to other members in the community for them to share their knowledge with me. I now operate a regional budget for Beaufort, Martin, and Hyde County Libraries. It is a eight branch system that is funded by the state, counties and towns. I have been employed here for nine years of successful state required audits under my belt. I started with what I thought would be the impossible and made it possible.
