My personal philosophy includes holistic care with a patient centered focus, backed by evidence based practice. Throughout my career in healthcare I have strived to treat the whole person not just their symptoms. I recognize that mental health is necessary to overall well being and I strive to provide compassionate , dignified ,evidence based care . As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner ( PMHNP) I will actively listen and develop a collaborative plan of care with the patient and/or interested parties.
Understanding mental health services are scarce and this is an underserved population I hope to provide culturally competent treatment plans that coincide with the patients values, preferences and goals. I will support access to care, aid in the reduction of stigma related mental illness and empower patients to advocate for themselves. I am dedicated to continued professional development and fostering empowerment. I intend to creat an environment in which patients feel respected, supported and included.
My strengths involve effective communication, empathy, compassion and years of professional experience in various settings. I am well adept at deciphering physiological versus psychiatric emergencies. I am able to maintain professional boundaries and therapeutic relationships with both staff and clients. I am able to provide psychoeducational to both clients and families. I am fortunate to know many PMHNPs in my community that I can collaborate with and use as a resource. As with any profession areas of improvement will be ongoing and will include continuing education courses and referencing evidence based literature.
