  • When Eye South restructured MidWest, I was managing one small office (15 employees). I lost the Office Manager position and applied for an AR specialist position.
  • Started working for Kathy Kartye doing posterior claims for MidWest. Kathy trained me for this position. When I was being moved from MidWest, Kathy said her AR went up several points without me.
  • I was moved to CEA and MCOA affiliates for posterior. I had to learn all Texas insurance and coding.
  • Then I was moved to URMA and MWEC posterior. Again, I had to learn Chicago insurance and coding. This involved many unions using Advocate and Endeavor.
  • Per Maria Kalata, I was the top performer on her team. She asked that I document my workflow so she could help the rest of the team become more efficient.

  • Worked with physicians and financial advisors regularly to come up with what is now called Key Performance Indicators. Reviewed AR, worked with the AR team and to expedite claim handling. Worked with physicians and staff on coding and documentation to ensure clean medical records and therefore, clean claims.
  • Held quick meetings in the mornings, three days a week to review with staff/docs the state of the practice (now called a huddle). I reviewed problem areas in the schedule for the day/week. I ensured that each staff member felt like they were part of our team and had valuable input for me.
  • I had the least turn over of all MidWest offices.
  • Managed office operations to ensure efficient workflow and support for clinical staff.

Accomplishments

I have trained many of the technicians that work in the Cincinnati area. I have taught at the Academy of Ophthalmology meeting. I managed an office that presented a plethora of doctor and staff issues. I turned it around to be a great place to work, where employees were productive and content. Doctors were asking to transfer to my office to work. I presented at a MidWest manager meeting about how I went about turning my practice around. I believe in addressing problems directly and timely to ward off helplessness, unhappiness with the staff and doctors. I work in an organized and efficient manner.
