- All services – scrubbing and circulating. Service Coordinator for Neuro/Spine service for ten years.
- Responsible for onboarding new physicians, maintenance of preference cards, instrumentation/sets, equipment, new products, communication with Materials and CS, and Education of Staff
- Charge nurse as needed for 18 room surgical unit. Participate in hospital wide Magnet and unit-based committees and councils.
- Prepare surgical suite according to type of surgery and surgeon preference. Collaborate with physicians and other health care providers to develop a care plan for the patient. Adhere to AORN standards of perioperative practice.
- Explain surgical procedures and risks, access patient need for knowledge of procedure and instructions to patients as needed.
- Implemented interventions for infection prevention, malignant hyperthermia protocol, wrong site surgery protocol, fall risk assessment/prevention, pressure ulcer risk assessment/prevention, age specific/population-based care.
- Managed care from pre-op through PACU, including patient assessments, care planning, health and procedure education.
- Conferred with physicians to discuss diagnoses and devise well-coordinated surgical approaches.
- Provided orientation for new nurses/technologists, interns and student nurses to achieve training outcomes.
