I am currently working as a patient coordinator. I check in and out patients daily. Take phone calls to assistant patients with there needs, giving them the best patient experience. Check patients out and give them estimates of what there treatment would be for there surgeries. Call insurances when needed to find out correct out of pockets for patients. Scan in Documents to correct patient accounts, work on end of day process, and many other duties.
Check patients in for there appointments, make sure all addresses and phone numbers updated. Pull insurances each day to make sure they are covered. Take any payments that are needed. Do a daily accounting sheet for day before, make sure it balances each day. Order contact lenses if patients need to order. Also, when I am pre-testing we take patients back to do all there vision testing, and document anything that is going on with them in the chart, make sure everything is updated before the patient is ready to see the optometrist.
I worked mainly at the front desk, checking in and out patients each day.
Verifying and collecting insurance coverage information for each and every patient, making sure insurance is not termed and if it is calling to get updated. Calling insurance companies to get updated insurances. Assisting with financial arrangements for their treatment; with taking payments as well as helping them with other options to make payments if needed. Booking appointments, answering general questions, and other associated support.
