Communication Skills

As a leader within the organization, proficiency in communication is key. To keep my team informed, to keep other leaders informed of our challenges and to be a strong voice as well as advocate for the team has been a very important part of my current role. As a Care Manager in an acute setting, I rely heavily on my communication skills with the interdisciplinary team as well as with patients and families. The patients’ needs must be addressed in a timely manner to expedite discharges. As a referral specialist, I have spent countless hours on the phone with multiple types of customers promoting the Rehab Unit. Also, I have given multiple in-services and spoke at marketing events.

Leadership Experience

I am currently in a formal leadership position. I am responsible for the day to day management of a 20+ care management department. In my previous role I was the direct supervisor to three admission liaisons. I have also been a Charge nurse while working as a staff nurse and was Interim Unit Director.
