Detail-oriented team player with strong organizational skills. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy.
As a teacher at Riverstone International School, I taught reading, math, and writing to Kindergarten students. I honed my skills in creating original material with Google docs/slides to supplement the reading/math curriculum and our units of inquiry. We used the Journeys curriculum for literacy and Everyday Math for the mathematics program. Our units of inquiry were built around certain themes, culminating in a final project. The Kindergarten topics included animals/habitats, shelters, storytelling, and science. With Riverstone being an International Baccalaureate school, I received training in leading students through the inquiry process. We would begin with activating prior knowledge. Then, we would then guide the students through learning more, sorting out new information, and completing a final project to show what they had learned.
At James Irwin Charter Academy, I began as a second grade teacher then moved to third grade. I was responsible for all core subjects for my third grade class. I taught reading, grammar, composition, math, poetry, character, history, and science. I was responsible for lesson planning, tracking data at a grade wide level, and reporting to administration. Multi-tasking and time management was crucial to this job. I learned to use various computer programs for attendance, grades, and record keeping.
