Hello! My name is Madyson (or Mady) Smith. I am 25 years old and graduated from Sonoma State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences: History this last Spring of May of 2021; in hopes to be applying for the masters program here at Sonoma State in History to achieve the goal of becoming a professor in history. During gap from graduating and earing my bachelor degree, I was enrolled at Georgetown University Master's program in sport's management; but unfortunately the program decided to take a turn in a different direction and I wanted to make a change career paths. But, the passion of education and helping those achieve their personal goals was still in my mindset. From being the head coach and program director for girls lacrosse at Rancho Cotate HS and Assitant Defensive Coach for Women's Lacrosse at Sonoma State University, which I further discuss later.
As a history major, I have developed skills of not just history academic knowledge but other skills that relay in areas of research, writing research essays and papers. Motivated professional offering Bachelor's of Arts in History. Adds value to any organization in need of great collaboration, interpersonal, and multitasking abilities. Meets tight deadlines every time. Dedicated employee known for punctuality, pursuing employment options where good customer service and positive attitude will make a difference. Flexible hard worker ready to learn and contribute to team success.
While attending Sonoma State University, I had the opportunity to play lacrosse for the Sonoma State Women's Lacrosse Club. Not only did I play but I was Team Captain and on the SSU Women's Lacrosse Board as Vice President for 4 years. As Vice President my role was to schedule and book fields for practices and games, schedule games and officials, equipment for the club (googles, balls, paint, goalie equipment, etc.), help hire and work closely with coaches, support Treasurer and President of the club, and co-run fundraising for the club with the President. Not only was I in charge of all of these duties but did attend weekly and monthly board meetings with coaches, members of the board and the Club Athletic Department for SSU. I also created the path for the team and organization to be more outspoken in our local community by reaching out to our local youth lacrosse club, Rancho Cotati Lacrosse Club, and our local high school lacrosse program at Rancho Cotate High School.
Following this experience in the fall of 2017 I was hired to be the Head Coach for Girls Lacrosse at Rancho Cotate High School. Before this opportunity I have been coaching since I was fifteen with being an assistant coach for soccer and lacrosse. Being a Head Coach I am not only responsible for organizing practices and open fields, scheduling games, fundraising opportunities, etc. More examples of the description of what this job entails listed in my experience section of this resume. Not only do I run the Girls Lacrosse program working with the RCHS Athletic Director and Athletic Admin; but I do work closely with the Boys Lacrosse program. One mission I wanted to accomplish with this job was to make sure the Girls and Boys Lacrosse program would be working together as one moving part in a lacrosse program at RCHS. We do all our fundraising together as well as other team functions by making sure both lacrosse programs stay as one. Both myself and the Boys Lacrosse Head Coach, directs and enhances team operations with motivational leadership and problem-solving abilities. Trying to build a not just a successful individual programs but one giant program that can be equally beneficial to our student athletes.
