Experience

  • During my time at Xavier, I mainly focused my time on my studies. I chose all of my classes specifically to give me experience for when I started working. Below will be a list of those classes and the experience that I took from them.
  • Psych of Workplace Diversity-For this class, we examined how diverse teams function and the impact of diversity on organizational culture. We engaged with Human Resources representatives to understand real-world diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategies, often analyzing the practices of large companies. Through HR simulations, we explored decision-making processes and developed strategies to foster inclusive environments in diverse workplaces.
  • Urban America-For this class, we studied the impact of economic disparities and infrastructure on local communities, focusing on the median family income across Lower, Middle, and Upper Class families. We explored how the construction of highway systems historically displaced working-class families, creating long-term financial and social hardships for the Lower Class.
  • Social Psychology-, students explored key concepts like group behavior, social perception, and prejudice while participating in activities that allowed us to interact with the surrounding community. By observing and engaging with local individuals, we gained practical insights into how societal influences, such as social norms and peer pressure, can shape psychological processes and impact daily interactions.
  • Psychological Disorders-Psychological Disorders is a class focused on understanding the nature, symptoms, and treatment of various mental health conditions. Students studied different case studies of disorders such as anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia, analyzing their impact on both individuals and society. We also interacted with the local community to observe how these disorders manifest in everyday life, gaining deeper insight into the challenges faced by those affected and the societal stigma that can surround mental health.
