Administrativeleadership

  • Coordinated the development, implementation, and monitoring of the William E. Waters Middle School Improvement Plan, which resulted in improved student performance on 2018-2019 SOL assessments (History: 76% to 79%; Science: 64% to 72%; Mathematics 54% to 68%; and English Academic Achievement for Student with Disabilities: the highest achievement percentage in the past 5 years).

  • Led the implementation of Reconnecting Youth: a program that focused on behavior management, school attendance, alcohol, tobacco use and control. This program was offered specifically for students that were over-age middle schoolers (98% of the students were in place of on-time graduation, 100% of the students had less than 10 absences for the school year, and discipline referrals were down by 86%)

Schoolclimate

  • Supervised building transportation for daily school buses, field trips, activities, and athletics.
  • Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) Administrator held monthly meetings, implemented tiered behavior interventions, and provided professional development and trainings to support teachers with the implementation of strategies.
  • Launched Classroom Management Professional Development for all teachers with challenging classes. 98% of the teachers that participated had a significant drop in disruptive behaviors, fewer referrals, and more uninterrupted instructional time. This improvement was reflected in observations and evaluations.
  • Promoted the usage of proactive interventions and restorative justice to reduce recidivism.
  • Implemented Special Education Lesson Plans and provided trainings on collaborative instruction. This support resulted in an 18% increase for students with disabilities SOL scores.
  • Athletics Administrator: created a monthly duty schedule for the administrative team to attend all extracurricular activities and events. Attended the State VHSL conference and district meetings.
