I have been lucky to create botanical art as a career for most of my life, in both the fresh and artificial realms.
Six years ago, I taught myself to make Hypertufa pots and use peat moss, vermiculite and Portland cement to create the vessels, which take 30 days to cue, and an additional 30 days to leech the lime out of them. I describe it as making "mud pies", as it is a very visceral, meditative process. I love to work with my hands! One of my goals is to teach small classes in this craft, and to keep challenging myself with the colors, shapes, and textures. I also love to design garden vignettes, altars, and all sorts of displays.
