Social Media Manager
For my business degree you are required to do an internship. Vinnie & Velvet located in Franklin, Ohio was the one I chose. It is small business with a thrift store in the back and goodies/products from small local business' in the front. The owner heard people's frustrations about Plato's Closet and not taking people's clothes or not giving them enough money for the items brought in. So she crated this small business where people can rent a book for a week for $20 and sell whatever they want at whatever price they want. The store gets 1/3 commission. My concentration for my major is small business entrepreneurship. During my time at this job I got to work on the social media platforms Instagram and Facebook. I posted outfits on the week, special events that were going on and designed a poster for advertising. I also put together outfits of the week and posted a lot of items from the small business' as it helped get a lot of their products seen and supported. Most of the sales for Vinnie & Velvet are through social media so it was important to brand items correctly (giving occasions for clothing, accessories, home decor, shoes etc). Vinnie & Velvet also does weekly instagram/facebooks lives to help sell things and show inventory of the store. I helped with that as well and took requests from customers and it was always super successful. A few other ideas we had going on in the store was a "Cart Sale"... We had three full/overflowing grocery carts filled with clothes for $1 per item. We had people lining up 40 minutes before this event took place. Another event we put on is a "$3 thrifts". We went live on social media and people could buy leftover items that people didn't want for $3. We sold every item on that live and people even asked for us to do it again ASAP. This job brought so much joy and creativity to life because of my passion for marketing, design, and creativity. I believe the job you work at should bring you joy and this was truly it.
