Ana Luiza (RYAN) Sardenberg

Current third year Biochemistry B.S. student at University Of California, Los Angeles. Minoring in Science Education. Member of Alpha Chi Sigma, chemistry fraternity, Beta Gamma chapter. UCLA Winter 2022 Dean’s Honor List. Approximately 2 years experience in university level laboratory in both chemistry and biology, with experience in gel electrophoresis, bacterial cultures, bioassay, aspirin synthesis and purification, and tissue microscopy. Successfully completed the Pharmacology & Toxicology module of the University of Toronto medical school intensive Youth Summer Program 2018. Youngest student in the program and only student from Brazil at the time. The program included lectures in pharmacology and lab experience in gel electrophoresis, bioassay, and bacterial cultures.

International Baccalaureate Extended Essay in Chemistry, grade A awarded. Only student from my high school to achieve this. Extended Essay topic in experimental aspirin synthesis and purification. Months of college-level laboratory experience gained through this paper. Took IB Higher Level Chemistry and Biology with grades 7/7 in both. Admitted to UC Berkeley, University of Southern California (scholarship + honors), UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, Boston College, University of Washington, and University of San Francisco (scholarship + honors).

Currently taking classes in chemical biology (graduate level), organic chemistry III, and organic chemistry laboratory. Recently completed classes in biochemistry, thermodynamics, and physics.

Passionate about medicinal chemistry and pharmacology, and seeking to join pharmaceutical research efforts. Quick to pick up on new laboratory techniques and detail oriented. Remains calm and level headed when faced with setbacks. No prior work experience, but enthusiastic about starting.
