Summary

Mohave County, the "Heroin Capital" of Arizona, is an underserved rural tri-state region of Arizona, Nevada, and California. Multiple generations of residents grapple with health disparities tied to substance use disorders, exacerbated by a lack of accessible local treatment options. The prevalent low socioeconomics compound these challenges; creating health barriers that impact equity, diversity, and inclusion across crucial aspects like education, employment, food, housing, and transportation. As a Biomedical Clinical and Community Researcher, I am dedicated to propelling discoveries and translating data science findings to enhance national health, aligning with the rigorous standards set by the National Institute of Health. This research not only seeks to deepen our medical understanding, but contributes to cultivating a resilient diverse workforce, fostering advancements in new medicines and devices. In Biological Biomedical Research, I explore biological processes with a focus on cell functioning and disease mechanisms. This research is collaboratively conducted with my Primary Care Clinic which actively participates in clinical, community, and pharmaceutical research. Translational Research extends to rural underserved populations, encompassing Primary Care, Women's Health, Maternal Infant Health, Pediatric Health, Young Adult Health, and Men's Health. Also, special populations like Methadone Patients, Maternal Health Substance Disorders, HIV/AIDS, Disabilities, Transplants, Tribes, Farming. As a Clinical Biomedical Researcher, my responsibilities encompass data mining, analyzing datasets to identify health disparities and trends, and updates to clinical practice. The customized Electronic Data Capture I developed for the clinic enhances scientific clinical research endeavors. My vision as a diverse biomedical researcher centers on contributing to the nation's health enhancement. My mission is to develop, assess, and improve National Institute of Health policies and procedures, providing support for innovative training, career development, education, and comprehensive analysis of a diverse biomedical research workforce. Further, I strive to empower small business development nationwide, fostering community growth and resilience. Dedicated to propelling discoveries, advancing health initiatives, and fostering diversity within biomedical, clinical, and community research arenas, my commitment positions me to play a vital role in the evolving landscape of future research, bringing impactful translational forms to communities across the country.

Primary Care Provider

Tri-State Community Healthcare Clinic
11.2016 - 08.2017
  • Managed comprehensive medical care at Federally Qualified Health Clinics (FQHC) for adults and children, prioritizing critical analysis, problem-solving, and evidence-based decision-making. Our services covered promotion, prevention, consultation, screening, counseling, and education. In this rural context, patients faced health disparities, lacking access to specialist referrals and support services, resulting in a challenging caseload requiring higher-level care. The absence of medical transportation compounded these issues, hindering access to necessary referrals and services, leading to adverse health outcomes for both adults and children. Additionally, dental prevention services were underutilized due to the need for interventions from non-local oral surgeons. The community, grappling with substance use disorders and tooth decay, faced severe cases, such as the removal of maggots from patients' gums.
