• As a Transportation Security Officer (TSO), I have received training on operating various screening equipment and technology such as X-Ray in order to identify dangerous objects in baggage, cargo, and on passengers; and preventing those objects from being transported onto aircraft by doing the followings.
• Providing front line security protection to air travelers, airports, and airplanes.
• (HHMD) Handheld Metal Detector, performing pat down searches, operating an x-ray machine, screening baggage, and reviewing tickets.
• I am tasked with identifying dangerous objects on passengers and in baggage or cargo and preventing these objects from being transported onto aircraft. Using diverse electronic detection and imaging equipment.
• I am tasked with maintaining focus and awareness while working in a stressful environment, crowd distractions, time pressure/deadlines, as well as disruptive and angry passengers.
• Engaging in continuous development of critical thinking skills, necessary to mitigate actual and potential security events through identifying, evaluating, and applying appropriate situational awareness and approaches.
• I am responsible for training newly certified team members, monitoring and reporting on the status and progress of work and representing the team in communications with the supervisor or manager for the purpose of obtaining resources.
• Assisting with investigations of incidents, and preparing incident reports or other documents that convey required information
• Balancing risk-based security screening protocols that vary day to day based on program needs and requirements
• Utilizing knowledge of all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and perform responsible and dependable behavior, while being open and flexible to applying change, and adapting to new information or unexpected obstacles.
• I provide input to supervisors and managers concerning a variety of human resources matters including, but not limited to, employee performance, promotions, reassignments, awards, etc.
• Responding to breaches of security and emergency situations
• As acting LTSO (Lead Transportation Security Officer), I take a leadership role when needed to respond to breaches of security and emergency situations.
• As acting LTSO, regularly provide input to supervisors and managers concerning a variety of human resources matters including, but not limited to, employee performance feedback, promotions recommendations, reassignments, awards, etc. As acting Lead, I was responsible for leading at least 6 full-time and part-time level transportation security officers. I adjusted with breaks and lunches when needed. I have identified, distributed and balanced workloads and tasks. I have adjusted in accordance with established priorities. Also, I have assisted with investigations of incidents, monitoring and reporting on the status and progress of workers and representing the team and communications with the supervisors. As acting Lead, I made sure we were staffed, made sure all lanes were manned properly. I've assisted on IVCC (Identity Verification Call Center) and 1+1 CALLS.
