  • Acts as a Principal Investigator in Acute Febrile Illnesses (AFI) observational and interventional studies.
  • Has obtained and administered research grants from National and International funders (i.e. Brazilian Ministry of Health, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, WHO TDR, UK MRC).
  • Funder and coordinator of the Clinical and Applied Research Network in Chikungunya (REPLICK), comprised of 12 sites and more than 40 researchers, and affiliated it to ISARIC.
  • Has acted in national and international Scientific Advisory Committees in Malaria and Arbovirus.
  • Has been responsible for elaborating National Clinical Management Guidelines for Malaria, Chikungunya and Dengue (also editor) for the Brazilian Ministry of Health.
  • Supervises PhD, Msc and Infectious Diseases residents and is responsible for the Clinical Trials Module of the Clinical Research in Infectious Diseases Postgraduate Course.
  • Currently Academic Editor of three scientifc journals.
