I am a dedicated and compassionate graduate nurse currently completing the Registered Nurse program at Cape Cod Community College, with a strong foundation in medical-surgical nursing and hands-on bedside care. I am highly motivated to obtain two years of experience in a medical-surgical setting to further develop my critical thinking, clinical judgment, and technical nursing skills. I bring strong patient assessment abilities, effective communication, and a commitment to delivering safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care. I am known for my professionalism, teamwork, and adaptability in fast-paced healthcare environments, with a long-term career goal of advancing into oncology nursing to provide empathetic, high-quality care to patients and families across the continuum of treatment.
I have a solid base in wound care from both my classroom and hands-on experience in the clinical area. The classes taught me how to do a thorough assessment of a wound; i.e., determine the type of wound, take accurate measurements, identify drainage, odors, the condition of the tissue around the wound, and look for signs of infection or delayed healing. Through these experiences, I was trained to perform sterile and clean dressing changes, choose the most effective wound care products for each individual wound, and apply evidence based practice to promote the best possible healing outcome. Additionally, I became educated on the principles of managing pain, preventing infections, educating patients, and the value of interdisciplinary collaboration to achieve the best wound care results.
