Biography

Andrea Jackson-Sagredo is a Biostatistician with over 5 years of professional experience and 10+ years of academic studies. She specializes in predictive modeling approaches concerning women’s sexual, reproductive, and maternal health issues and neonatal health outcomes. Andrea is a current Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Illinois at Chicago in the School of Public Health within the Biostatistics/Epidemiology Department. In 2021, Andrea was awarded dual master’s in science degrees in Mathematics and Statistics from Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, IL.

Andrea’s most recent work includes developing prediction models to forecast HPV-related throat and cervical cancer and vertical transmission of HPV to neonates amongst Black and Latina women. In addition, Andrea has authored and co-authored two research articles regarding COVID-19 and the forecasting of cases and deaths during the height of the pandemic.

As a daughter of an immigrant mother from Santiago de Chile and a father from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, who spent many years fighting for civil rights in the United States, Andrea believes that her biggest mission is to uplift, honor, and advocate for Black and Brown men and women, and children while utilizing her mathematic and statistical background to reach clinicians and public health policymakers. Overall, Andrea’s goal is simple: to quantify, rectify, and exemplify injustices in women’s health, particularly Black and Latina women and children in various sociodemographic and economic situations.

Andrea coins her greatest achievements, however, as being a mom to her two daughters, Catalina and Paloma. Likewise, Andrea enjoys spending quality time with her childhood sweetheart and husband, Elias, and raising their two daughters in Bolingbrook, IL.
