I took a welding class in high school, and I learned the basics of welding. I learned how to stick, MIG, and TIG weld in safe and precise ways. While in class, we also got our OSHA certifications.
I also took an agricultural mechanic's class, where we learned how to make concrete slabs, how to use power tools, and more.
I personally took a program over the summer at Colling College. It was a four-week program with a professor who taught us oil change, tire rotation, and etc. The program was called Fast Track, and we got certifications in the program.
