Accomplishments

    Aided My section during a joint training day with Transportation Security Administration (TSA). He assisted 8 training lanes, providing 6 hrs of explosive decoy training for 4 explosive dog teams during detection based scenarios. His actions earned him a Letter of Appreciation for aiding in the certification of 4 TSA Oakland Teams.

    Aided in Local Dog Attack, utilized Military Working Dog medical aid for 2 dogs and personal involved. transported to local vet clinic. Actions lead to recognition from CC and MSG Commander.

    Lead Detection Team in Local explosive device threat for FBI, and local Departments. Provided explosive detection for 2 sites, & 2 acre. locating one Improvised Explosive Device. Ensuring the safety of 61K personal.

    Hand selected to respond to a local explosive threat where he teamed up with FBI and Woodland PD. My K9 and I Vetted a 2k sq ft lot & 3 vehicles, locating an improvised explosive device down the street from a school in the shape of a flashlight. My efforts led to the arrest of 3 suspects, the safety of 61k personnel, & increased the county, State, & Federal agencies confidence in my Military Working Dog Teams capabilities.

Senior Airman Andrew N. Melis distinguished himself by outstanding achievement while assigned to the 3 79th

Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron. 379th Expeditionary Mission Support Group, 379th Air Expeditionary

Wing, Al Udeid Air Base. Qatar. During this period, Airman Melis was vital to the success of the unprecedented.

seventeen-day, largest non-combatant evacuation operation airlift in United States history. His efforts ensured the

safe passage of over 57,000 evacuees fleeing tyranny and oppression while transiting the installation during the Allies

Refuge Mission. Additionally, as Response Force Member, Airman Melis supported joint force of588 personnel to

accept 327 aircraft landings responding to three hundred medical responses and fo11y-eight in-flight emergencies. His

actions provided security and life sustaining aid at fifteen impromptu locations and the flightline, at one point

sheltering over 18,000 people, while guaranteeing exact execution of the primary air tasking order mission across the

theater. Finally. Airman Melis guided efforts with three Qatari agencies, the United States Department of State,

Customs and Border Protection, and the Transpo11ation Security Administration. His efforts led to the identification

of seventy-eight known or suspected terrorists and overcame unrelenting processing and screening challenges to move

evacuees to the United States and other sites. The distinctive accomplishments of Airman Melis reflect credit upon

himself and the United States Air Force.
