
As a boiler console operator Andrew methodically operated and maintained a 700 PSI V2M boiler reliably provided 100,000 LB/Hr of superheated steam to two 2500 Kw turbine generator and two main propulsion turbines. Throughout out his five years of service he has proved himself repeatedly as a technical expert in his field and made a multitude repairs to vital equipment to include main feed pumps and potable water evaporators sustaining the USS Essex's ability to remain mission ready at all times. As a petty officer second class in the United States Navy Andrew as trained 5 turbine generator operators, 3 burnerman, 6 machinist mate lower levels and 2 boiler console operators. While the ship was inport and in a standby status Andrew assigned and supervised the completions of 7,534 preventative and corrective maintenance checks in accordance approved ship board procedures. In every role assigned to Andrew he has adapted to and exceed the standards impressed upon him.
