Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers
Grimes
05.2024 - 11.2025

At Freddy's, I worked in three different areas: the cash register, the drive-thru window, and the custard machine. At the cash register, I was responsible for taking orders from customers. I would make sure to give good eye contact, make friendly gestures, and obtain customers' orders both quickly and precisely. I would always put a smile on customers' faces and make sure that they left happy. My responsibility at the custard machine was to make custard the quickest way possible, but also make sure that I made it the best that I could. I got to manage which custard items belonged to whom and that all of the items were made correctly. The drive-thru window was my favorite spot to work because I got to do my two favorite things: interact with customers, and make food items. Though customers could not see my emotions while ordering in their cars, I made sure that they all understood that I was there to help them get their food in the quickest way possible. A Cold Line Team Member has to be quick on their feet in order to help customers as soon as possible, and be able to remain calm in stressful situations. Freddy's would get very busy around lunchtime, so I had to work quickly without getting overwhelmed and stressed. I would also have to help open shop which required cleaning the whole building and preparing certain custard toppings, so we did not run out.

The Barking Lot
Urbandale
05.2023 - 08.2023

At The Barking Lot, my main tasks included deep cleaning, taking out the dogs, and feeding the dogs. Each morning when I arrived at The Barking Lot at 6:30 a.m., I had around 30 dogs that needed to be walked, fed, and had their suites cleaned. This process would take around an hour and I had to use teamwork skills with my coworkers in order to get the work done the fastest. One person would take out a dog, while the other one would clean the suite and grab dog food and water. Then when the walker got back, the two employees would switch positions. This is what I did for most of my job, but I also had to clean the grooming area. It was usually covered in dog hair, so I would have to vacuum the floor, sweep it, and then clean out every single kennel.

For a week I volunteered at The Lutheran Church Of Hope - Des Moines during their summer camp. I had to watch many little kids and make sure that they were having a good time. This would require talking to them about things that they like and making kind gestures in order to make friends. If one of the kids got lost, I would need to use teamwork skills in order to find the kids quickly.
