Power Plant Mechanic

1. Routinely Inspects, tests, adjusts, and performs maintenance on powerhouse equipment. This includes inspecting for wear and tear on mechanical equipment including bearings , belts, seals, couplings, and packing. Testing equipment is functioning properly. Adjusts align shafts, align couplings, adjust belt tension, and makes sure bolts are properly torqued. Performs maintenance including cleans equipment, inspects for wear, checks oil levels, properly greases, adjusts packing, replaces filters, and replaces seals. Performs plant inspections (checking oil level, check air levels, inspects for leaks, malfunctioning equipment)
2. Performs scheduled and emergency repairs and overhauls on such items of mechanical equipment as pumps, compressors, fans, gear boxes, valves, hydraulic cylinders, heat exchangers and runners. Disassembles equipment, performs repairs, orders parts, reassembles equipment. Performs welding repairs, drill and tap holes, machines parts, and fabricates parts as needed.
3. Performs major modifications to existing equipment and installation of new equipment.
Modifies existing equipment through welding, machining, and custom fabrication of brackets and mounting bases (ect). On new equipment install pours concrete pads, builds brackets, and modifies piping. Test equipment for proper operation (to manufactures specifications) and makes any necessary adjustments.
4. Operates rigs heavy loads and bridge and gantry cranes as needed to lift these loads.
Operates gantry and bridge cranes to perform routine maintenance of plant equipment and major overhaul of plant equipment (intake gate repair recently). Routinely uses bridge cranes to move equipment and materials inside the powerhouse. Performs annual, monthly, and daily inspections of the cranes and rigging equipment.

5. Maintained specification paperwork and manufacturer manuals for plant equipment to keep team compliant, consistent and productive.

6. Kept accurate logs on operations, repair and maintenance work performed within hydroelectric plant.

7. Managed time efficiently in order to complete all tasks within deadlines.
