CNC Mill / CNC Lathe Setup & Operation
3 years of Machining Experience at this job..
Skills Acquired:
CNC Mill Setup, CNC Lathe Setup, Machine Maintenance and Repair.
Three years of working for this company, AG Machine, I learned a lot from a number of skilled machinists. I was trained by old timers with 40+ years of experience, as well as newer machinists that were trained in CNC machining schools more recently.
I am proficient in setting up jobs and running jobs on mills and lathes. I can dial in jobs, make offset adjustments, and hold tight tolerances throughout the entire job cycle.
I know about production times and cycle times. My main focus in the job was making good parts, within tolerance, in a timely manner.
I know how to read a write some basic G-code and M-code programming. For example, I know how to make small changes or adjustment within the program such as spindle speed and feed rate. I am always working on learning and memorizing more G-code and M-code.
At AG Machine, I also did a lot of maintenance on many different models of machines, CNC mills and CNC lathes. I know how to trouble shoot and fix all different types of coolant leaks, oil leaks and air hose leaks. I've also pulled out, cleaned and fixed broken and/or backed up conveyors on a number of different machine configurations. I have experience completely tearing down machines in preparation for moving them across the shop to a different location. I've
then single handedly set the machines back up after they've been relocated. I did this on over a dozen different machines, big and small, mills and lathes. I also have experience taking apart actuator arm assemblies on mills and using parts kits to repair/replace broken and/or worn parts within the assembly.
Manual & CNC Lathe Operating + Part Inspection.
2 years of Machining Experience at this job.
This was my first machining job where I was first trained how to operate a manual lathe. I cut and refinished transmission plates for diesel truck transmissions. I also learned how to cut the transmission plates on a CNC lathe. So ATS Diesel is where I learned the basics of operating CNC machinery. Including but not limited to machine safety, loading and unloading parts, changing inserts and tools, making adjustments, uploading programs onto machines, reading basic programs as well as how to deburr and inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment like micrometers, gages & optical comparators.
Part Inspection
2 years of Detailed Part Inspection at this job.
At Western Aero I learned the basics of Part Inspection, Serial # Tracking, and Data input.
We would inspect parts to ensure the work that had been done matched their paperwork. Then we would input the parts into a Quantum computer system and then give them a location in the warehouse so they could be easily located when needed.
I learned attention to detail, quality control, inventory management and consolidation. This is also where I learned how to drive a fork life.
