Work History

Advisory Software Engineer| Cloud Developer

IBM

01.2016 - Current
  • Responsible for development of new features and functionality, maintenance of existing product code, creating software performance test plans and executing those as well as provide product support via rotational Pager Duty.
  • Involved in Design, implementation, and maintenance of the components for IBM Cloud Compute and Object Storage subsystems. This includes things such as code to support new features, tuning existing code for better performance and bug fixes. Design, build, implement and support CI/CD framework

Software Projects -

  • GPU Observability: Critical project for IBM’s AI offering as it provides the observability aspects to catch issues before hand. GPU Devices Out-Of-Band Management & Observability enables the compute SRE team and other dev-ops teams to easily explore the data, understand context, and resolve problems faster for the OOB managed GPUs. Designed and described the design requirements, scope, workflows in the SRB from observability perspective.Implemented core functionalities of the project some of them being Connection to fleetman-rest-server, Obtaining the BMC credential information from fleetman, Issue Redfish calls and manage the resulting tasks/jobs as needed and added support for redfish endpoint delay to introduce the delay set between different redfish endpoint requests
  • Compute Billing and Lifecycle Management: The project was about having the business logic for how the billing should work for the different compute services to be owned by the Compute team. I have been responsible for leading the project, articulating the architectural view of software by having thorough knowledge of the platform, developing high level design specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility, analyzing the project requirements, guiding the team and finding efficient ways to solve identified issues and Bridging the gap between the developers and the management by updating all of them with the necessary updates regarding the project.
  • Intel SAP: The project was about the optimization work for all the regional IBM Virtual Private Cloud APIs, as the Technical lead for the Intel SAP project, successfully lead the team to complete the milestones and on track to complete the other objectives for the project. Played a critical role in every step of the project, right from conducting interviews to form the team, coming up with plan of action for each of our milestones, having several discussions with different teams, guiding the developers with the optimization work required for IBM Compute, storage and Network services, the performance tester with instrumenting test scripts/ running the performance tests to documenting everything that needs to be submitted to Intel as proof of performance for each of our milestones.
  • Image from Volume: Implemented the functionality to create cloud object storage bucket, create access policy for the user to access the bucket from a different account, delete file and bucket. Wrote the code to generate the image wdek so that only the CRN can be passed for the image from volume operations and updated the polling logic for the get and list images of IFV. Collected, investigated and designed the New Staging Public Images Creation Process for IMSless.
  • Bring Your Own Key Phase3 Development work: Worked on writing the code to call the RCOS client using gRPC, k8 functionality and Power off the VSI when CRK associated with VSI's encrypted volume is deleted, made the code changes to the keyreact storage for calling the RCOS method to get the volume attachments, appended the metadata for the context and the zone for the RCOS call and also made changes to use the k8s api to get the instanceSpec, power off the vsi and update the instanceSpec.
  • Key Protect Service: I have been Implementing the Key Protect cli commands to support dual authorization, set or unset key for deletion, policy update command with the option for enabling or disabling the authorization and changes for the policy show to call the updated setPolicies.
  • Cloud Object Storage Internal Buckets Access: Worked on writing an automated script to allow my team on-calls to examine the cos private bucket, aspera failure bucket, companion bucket and other internal buckets information using a safe mechanism for investigating service or customer problems.
  • Zonal File work: worked on making sure that SOS is established with the Control Path Clusters, learned about the clearing house entry and documented the Control Path Cluster. Worked on the deployment and Security/compliance modules for the Zonal File delivery.
  • File as a service: Worked on writing the end to end deploy script to create a snapshot of the VM image, wrote Jenkins jobs to run the functional tests once the code changes are pushed to the Faas Github repo. Implemented rename using COS server side copy, NFS paged directory listing and other critical features. Worked on the POC to run the gateway using c++ extended modules to reduce the call time and increase the performance of the FUSE gateway. I have also worked on worked on setting up NetApp cluster to work with NAS management calls, openshift
  • Cloud Storage Internal health check Monitors: Developed internal monitors to report the health status of the Storage API and the cleversafe service API and built a standard performance test suite for COS Broker Micro-service
  • Hyper Protect Crypto Services performance: Enhanced the locust tool or implemented a feature for the tool to support multiple instances for the HPCS perf work on uat/prod
  • Cloud Object Storage CLI: Worked with the Cloud Object Storage SDK team to implement the COS CLI commands/options using the GO sdk
  • IP Whitelisting: Evaluated the performance for IP Whitelisting by writing automated scripts and measured the performance for our different DC's using Cosbench/OG/DOG tools
  • SWIFT to COS migration tool: Worked on writing the tool that copies all the existing objects in Swift owned by Internal teams into COS, the script also handles migration in both Commercial and FED.
  • Cosbench enhancement: Implemented the IAM token support for cosbench to use our COS SDK and to add the multipart upload/download feature, the official tool does not support both of these features required for the team to test such scenarios, worked on making changes to the Java source code to add the SDK plugin and to do parallel upload. The performance team uses this version of cosbench for the projects where we need to do multipart upload/download testing or use the COS SDK.
  • Aspera COS SDK: Wrote the automated scripts to test Aspera with the Cloud ObjectStorage sdk , have done runs to test the multi-session upload large object, download large object, upload of lot of small objects and download of lot of small objects with/without packet loss.
  • Key Protect wrap/unwrap performance: Instrumented the wrap/unwrap test scripts, wrote Jenkins job to automate the runs and send metrics to Grafana.
  • Autoscale feature: AutoScale POC development work for simulated and real groups with the LogMet Metric Driver.
