Work History

Special Investigation Service Technician

Federal Bureau Of Prisons
Victorville
11.2018 - Current
  • As an SIS Technician, part of my responsibilities is that Disruptive Group (DG) inmates' urine analyses for Prior, Suspect, Random, and saturation inmates are collected, inputted into TRUINTEL, logged, prepared, and sent out to the laboratory for testing if the urine cup displayed the possibility of narcotics being present. Assigned to the SIS Department, I also interviewed newly designated inmates at the institution, where photographs were taken and tattoos with gang affiliation were looked for, as I maintain lists of Disruptive Groups and Security Threat Group inmates for validation purposes. Also, as a technician, I've responded to many major disturbances to include attempted murders, suicides, serious assaults to include homicides. I have assisted the Evidence Recovery Team from the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the Federal Bureau of Investigations in processing crime scenes at USP Victorville, gathering evidence, ensuring proper chain of custody forms were filled out, taking photographs of the entire crime scene, and securing it properly in the SIS evidence locker/cage for possible prosecution. I also trained staff on how to use the ION Scan drug detection machine, where public visitors are randomly tested to increase the safety of the institution and to minimize the probabilities of narcotics being introduced to USP Victorville through the visitation process. I'm also trained and certified in testing suspicious substances using NIK drug testing kits, where, on some occasions, after an investigation is complete or part of the investigation, I notified the proper authorities of the systematic process the inmate population is utilizing to circumvent the mail process and attempt to introduce narcotics into the institution. Also, a major role as an Investigative Technician is to investigate incident cases, threat assessments, and protective custody issues. As an investigator, my duties are to conduct field interviews and determine if this situation can be peacefully resolved or, if needed, a transfer might be recommended to prevent further acts of violence from occurring and maximize staff safety. In addition, on a regular basis, I monitor phone calls, e-mails, and video surveillance using the TRUINTEL, TRULINCS, TRUFONE, TRUSEEQ, and TRUVIEW software for monitoring purposes. I've also generated FBI referrals, where I submitted documents to the Federal Bureau of Investigations when required, when further prosecution is necessary. The S.I.S. department is in charge and responsible for audits. Our audits include posted pictures of inmates, urine analysis, breathalyzers, ION testing, high visibility (1-hour watch), and all required monitoring of inmate audits. The S.I.S. The department has a high success rate in passing and clearing all audits during the program review.
