I am proud Denver native with 15+ years of working with youth, for the last 12 years, I have worked at Girls Inc. Of Metro Denver. Currently serving as a Manager of Training and Youth Engagement. I make time to facilitate workshops on gender equality and healthy sexuality to ensure youth, and young adults have access to diverse, and inclusive programs. i am certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid, self-defense and is a Social Emotional Learning Quality Program Assurance (SELQPA) assessor. Accomplished in diversifying training programs and expanding course offerings to handle larger numbers of enrollees. Well-versed in developing courses for new topics and adjusting existing classes to meet changing demands. Hardworking and disciplined leader with advanced conflict resolution skills, good organizational abilities and proactive approach.
Outside of work, I am a true leader committed to the success of young people, I provides mentorship opportunities for young women and after the tragic loss of my son Davarie Armstrong on 7/11/2020 I have turned my pain into passion and has started a Nonprofit in his honor called the DJ Armstrong Foundation. This foundation allows for me to give back to all youth through scholarships and awareness around Youth Gun Violence Prevention.
I have created a partnership with city officials about changes in the current gun laws here in Colorado. I also started a Mother Mourning Group that provides a safe space for other mothers who have lost a child and needs support to heal in a nonjudgmental way. Through this Mother Mourning Group i lead meets in greets, Mother’s day events, gun violence classes and conceal licensing.
