Dynamic Native American Coordinator at Swain County Schools, adept at relationship building and securing grants to enhance Cherokee Language and Culture programs. Expert in multitasking and organization, I successfully facilitated educational initiatives and fostered community engagement, ensuring a rich cultural experience for students while supporting their academic growth.
Native American Coordinator for Swain Middle School, as well as the Cherokee Language and Culture Teacher. My duties included but were not limited to:
*Facilitated grant funding process for school system by gathering necessary documents for Native American students.
*Served as a liaison between Tribal Offices and Swain County Schools.
*Taught classes based upon Cherokee Language, Culture, and history. As well as Cherokee Traditional Arts classes. Also taught a Native American Studies class.
*Coordinated field trips for students and planned school wide events based upon Cherokee Culture.
* Served in a counseling and mentoring role with students.
*Sought after and secured different grants for the success of the program I created at Swain Middle School to enhance the Cherokee Language and Culture classes.
*Completed and submitted all necessary paperwork for the Federal Indian Education Grant for Swain County Schools.
*Planned Parent Meetings for our Native American families.
*Assisted within different classes, as needed, mostly in 8th grade Math classes.
