Summary

I recently retired from teaching in the Gallatin County School District. During the past 27 years, I taught reading, writing, math and science in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. For the last 8 years of my education career, I served as a Reading and Math Intervention Teacher, specifically working with students performing below grade level. In addition to the responsibilities inside the classroom, I served on the Site Based Council, Program Review Committee, Curriculum Alignment, and Team Leader. I participated in Comprehensive Math Strategies for Intermediate Teachers to promote students’ proficiency in numbers and operations. I facilitated numerous professional learning sessions with our faculty, sharing math strategies and resources gained from training.

  • In August 1998, I began as a 4th grade teacher. In 1999, I taught 2nd grade at the Gallatin County Primary and looped with my students to teach third grade the following year (2000). From 2000-2017, I taught third grade. From 2017-2025, I served as a Reading and Math intervention Teacher.

  • While taking courses to earn my bachelor’s degree in education at NKU, I worked as a teller, cashing checks and depositing money into checking and savings accounts. I opened checking and savings accounts and helped prepare account statements for customers.
