Majority of my time at Tyrone was spent in surgical services, operating room and then Short Procedure Unit in 2018. I assisted during surgical cases in the OR then branched off to the SPU to learn the procedure from start to finish in an outpatient setting, from Pre-anesthesia testing to discharge.
The Tyrone surgical services is a very small but busy department. Services included orthopedics, ENT, cataract surgery, gynecology, general surgery, plastics to name the most popular. Our short procedure unit consists of admitting and discharging of outpatients, pre anesthesia phone interviews, IV infusions and blood administration.
