  • Rebuilding Together a non-profit organization established to help communities in need; they identify homes of low-income elderly and people with disabilities in need of repairs and rehabilitation. Rebuilding Together has three simple requirements – make homes safe, secure and warm. As team captain, I’m assigned a home that has been identified as unsafe, unsecure and/or not warm. I meet with the homeowners to identify the needs, develop a plan of action, gather materials, coordinate donations, and with a very small budget prepare for one day of restoration. On this day, I direct30-40 volunteers to complete various projects I’ve assigned to the home. Some of these repairs are simple, such as painting, clearing areas of debris or as complex as replacing windows, carpet or upgrading bathrooms.
