I currently have 23 years teaching and leadership experience. During my career, I have diversified my experience to include all academic areas from early elementary to high school. I have reviewed campus data to plan intervention strategies, professional development, and enrichment needs. My philosophy in education is that we all possess genius and our job as educators is to offer every opportunity possible for our students to showcase their talents. As an administrator, I build solid, lasting relationships with our students, families, and staff members. I will always work to ensure that we all have a safe, positive, equitable school climate.

Assistant Principal

Double File Trail ES- Round Rock ISD
07.2018 - Current

Double File Trail Elementary School is a Title One Campus serving 630 students. The majority of my career has taken place on this campus. I have built lasting relationships with students, families, and staff. I lead by growing staff leadership capacity and partnering with all stakeholders.

  • For the 2023-2024 School year, initiated a whole school focus on raising a sense of belonging for our students, as well as an academic focus towards raising our campus index two scores for growth
  • Redesigned Campus Discipline Model: Data indicated that most referrals included SPED and TAG students; as a campus, we reworked our SPED model to increase inclusion minutes, and I created and presented targeted Staff PD on Building Relationships with Students through an Equity Lens by incorporating Habit Number 5 of The Leader in Me (TLiM) Curriculum, Whole Campus PD on Twice Exceptional Students, Admin TAG training, Staff Collaboration on Campus Behavior System and Grade Level Behavioral Expectations, Addressing Social Emotional needs through Step 2 and Trauma training, Counseling Lessons- Result: Reduced the amount of Discipline Referrals on Campus by 52% from 2018 to 2020
  • Led Campus Action Research Project through the National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity (NAPE): Increasing Math Scores Through Growth Mindset- Student data showed an increase in the number of 5th graders who thought they could be successful in advanced math courses- Result: SPVLC increased their 6th Grade Advanced Math numbers from 33% in 2017-2018 to 75% in 2020-2021 (HMS)
  • We worked to identify TAG students on campus by administering the CogAT to all second grade students- Result: Our TAG numbers increased from 4% in 2018 identified to 9% currently
  • Led the Campus to receive The Leader in Me distinctions three years in a row: Attended and provided TLiM PD, Collaboration with our campus Leadership Team, Collected Data on the implementation of the 7 Habits
  • Through work with the Campus Principal, our school earned back-to-back TEA Distinctions: This was accomplished by intensive PLC work, Team and Campus data meetings, An All- Hands on Deck approach to intervention- providing fifth grade with an intervention block during the school day, and provided third and fourth grade targeted intervention with flex groups that were organized by skill-Result: Increase in Masters Scores on the STAAR in every tested subject in every grade level within one year: African American students increased from 11%-20%, Hispanic Students increased from 18%-29%, and Economically Disadvantaged Students increase from 18%-27 % from 2018-2019- *No STAAR scores in 2020
  • Revamped Early Literacy program through the Backwards Design Model to plan and implement impactful reading lessons, Staff PD on the Science of Reading, Monthly Data meetings to disaggregate ISIP data and identify high priority skills, PLC work to form plan of action, Create flexible groups, Admin team completed LETRS training and worked with PLCs on a phonics scope and sequence and the progression of skills through each grade level- Result: An increase in ISIP data in the area of Alphabetic Decoding of Level 3 or Higher Scores in first grade from 36% in September 2020, to 56% in January, 2021

During the Summer of 2022, I served as the Union Hill Summer Launch Principal. Within this role, I was able to establish my vision for a campus by providing 4th and 5th grade students with an opportunity to revisit skills from the previous school year in an environment that focused on student engagement, enrichment, and positive relationships. Teachers were also given the opportunity to grow in their profession through collaboration, encouragement, and support.
