Through the new hire and strategic process training received in my current position and in previous companies I have a solid understanding of what cost are associated with hiring, training and retaining qualified applicants. Lead Health System Specialist - PRC

Within the PRC services my primary focus is within the front line workers. I assist with new hire candidates, train, develop the referral care coordinators to provide our patients with the best service to meet the department and clinic goals. Due to my previous management positions I held at companies before my work within Indian Health Services I have become an asset for the hiring process within our department. I have assisted the previous PRC supervisor and the current PRC services with my knowledge and training. To date I have assisted in numerous hiring resume reviews, interviews and made many recommendations for hire for candidates that best fit our goals and services.

  • As the Lead Health System Specialist over the referral care coordinators I assist with the review and hiring process.
  • Review resumes and look for job skills and knowledge that can be beneficial in our department.
  • I call the references on the resume to confirm previous work history.
  • Reach out to the potential candidates to set up interview times.
  • Perform the initial interview whether in person or via a teleconference.
  • Take notes and ask the HR required questions during the interview.
  • Answer questions from the candidates with general information.
  • Make recommendations to the PRC supervisor regarding the candidates that best reflect the values, qualifications, knowledge for our department.
  • I teach, training and create training materials for all new referral care coordinators within our department. Currently I have 11 referral care coordinators other than myself and of the eleven I was the primary trainer from the beginning to their current status for 6 of the 11. Along the way the other 5 I have assisted with training on many occasions through the day to day operations.
  • As a self starter, motivator and creator I have created new strategies within PRC, helped implement new process, changes, create forms, training documents, processes to help improve the service we provide our patients. Our department has been recognized national on several occasions due some of the processes I had first hand in creating and implementing. We work together as a team to make a difference and we have been quit successful.

  • Back to PRC to provide a greater quality of care for our patients.. Continue to work with patients, vendors, RN case managers, the finance team and co-workers to help improve our processes.
  • Referral manager/funding review assistant. I was given the task of being the second line referral review before the PRC edical director review. Assisted with pricing of services and dded referrals to the spending plan for our PRC budget.
  • Claim & Purchase order research team; Assisted with reviewing claims and payments process through the FI. Claim research for accurate services dates and CPT codes.
  • New Hire review and training. Assisted the supervisor with reviewing resumes, reference calls, interview with HR required questions, and review with supervisor for the best hire.

  • Entry level – No prior knowledge off medical services. I enrolled my self in medical terminology to understand the service I was to provide to patients. Assist with verifying patient PRC eligibility, scheduling patient appointments, communicate with patients daily regarding referrals, the referral process, and reduce the over days out for services. I was able to assist my physicians with reducing the scheduling days out to 25-30 days for outside vendor appointments.
  • Answer phones calls, return voicemail everyday and keep an accurate log of all phone calls to ensure every task was completed each day.
  • I assisted with implementing the bizhub services and teaching co workers how to electronically fax referral packets and reduce the amount of paper our department used on a monthly bases. I helped initiate the first steps to our department becoming paperless.
