I provide care to patients suffering with a variety of mental illnesses. The volumes of patients range from a 13 bed (Childrens Unit) to a 34 bed (Adult Unit) I am responsible for the admission process, treatment planning and encouraging progress through therapies and medication management/adjustment. I provide direct compassionate care through 1:1 processing and individualized treatment. I oversee and direct LPNs and MHTs. I attend daily treatment team meetings where I assist with coordination of care with physicians, SSTs and counselors. I maintain Page 2 secure & safe environments for patients and staff. I perform accurate & timely documentation on the medical records, charts and MARs. I follow facility policies and procedures in all areas of practice. I am responsible for the orientation of new staff when needed. I maintain handle with care guidelines when patients become a danger to themselves or others.

I was the direct care nurse to patients with a variety of life threatening injuries and illnesses. I was responsible to prioritize nursing care for critically ill patients based on assessments & identified needs. I setup and monitored medical equipment such as cardiac monitors, ventilators, arterial lines, swan ganz catheters, Level I rapid transfusers among others. I responded efficiently to emergent/Code blue situations to ensure optimal care and outcomes. I collaborated with other members of the healthcare team to develop and identify needs and followed through with treatment accordingly. I maintained recording & charting on the electronic medical record using Caremanager/McKesson systems. I used the Pyxis machine for medication dispersing and dispensing. I administered blood/blood products monitoring patients for signs and symptoms of transfusion related reactions. I assisted physicians with procedures such as intubation, trach/PEG tube placement, bronchoscopies, elective cardioversion, IABP and swan-ganz catheter insertion. I provided care for patients being managed by CORE (Center for Organ Donation and Recovery) collaborating with CORE team members to assume and facilitate optimum organ function for donation.
