Leadership Philosophy

  • If you want to go fast—go alone. If you want to go far—go together. ~African Proverb
  • As a leader, I have always believed in the power of the team—no one person is greater, singularly, than we are together. Because I uphold this philosophy in my classroom, my students quickly learned that everyone had a gift; they all saw themselves and each other as scientists. This notion was wholly important to me, because it afforded me the opportunity to establish a culture of winners. Why is this important? Because one of the greatest gifts you can give anyone is hope. My students believed in themselves, and they knew that I believed in them as well. We developed a winning mentality. We were committed to growth, exploration, and self-development.
  • Is this not the mission of a leader? To inspire? To mold? To be the sage on stage, or the guide on the side? It is my belief that leaders are born, but leaders can also be developed. I know that I am leader, but I am also humble enough to know that I have much to learn. I believe that as one who values scholarship, it is inevitable that I will chosen by one who is born to lead.
