Patient-oriented Respiratory Therapist offering three-year background assisting in diagnosing, treating and managing patients dealing with pulmonary disorders. Reputable and friendly professional certified in artline and advanced airway placement paired with excellent time management and critical thinking abilities. Expertise in maintaining respiratory therapy equipment and determining requirements for treatment. Enthusiastic RRT eager to contribute to team success through hard work, attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Motivated to learn, grow and excel in the medical field.
As a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), I am BLS and ACLS certified with specialties in intubations and artline placement. Each 8-16 hour shift I am placed on alternating floors between ICU, ED, PACU, and step-down/medical floors. I work with multiple participants of the healthcare team and I am responsible for maintenance and patency of the airway through secretion clearance, inhaled medication delivery, ventilator management, and daily assessment/ management of the patient's respiratory regimen while admitted at the hospital.
I assisted in the prevention, diagnosis, and therapeutic treatment of respiratory disorders. I was able to practice in a dynamic environment alongside Respiratory Therapists, physicians, and nursing staff. I assisted the RTs in treatments/procedures on the general floors as well as the ICU. While attending MATC's Respiratory Therapy program, I flourished in an educational environment throughout an 8-12 hour shift in the hospital setting.
With this experience, I gained positive communication skills with the customers and the staff. I was able to multitask proficiently and gain reliability with financial assets as I was in charge of my own tips. I mostly worked in the summers with some hours throughout the school year. Not only was I serving in the restaurant, but I would also cater different events in a nearby pavilion.
Originally contracted as a medical scribe intern, I took multiple biology quizzes and wrote a weekly log of my experiences working alongside MDs and DOs in the emergency department. I became fluent in Medical Terminology, Anatomy, and Physiology. As a scribe I charted on up to 30 patients per shift that could last up to 12 or more hours. I flourished in the high intensity ED environment and I had had countless hours of charting experience through Epic. I worked on patient's HPI, physical exams, ROS, and general trauma and critical care notes.
As a Math Tutor, I tutored students of different college levels in College Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus I. In order to obtain this job the second semester of my freshman year, I had to receive a recommendation by a math professor whose class I excelled in. I also tutored multiple students in Human Physiology and Biomechanics as individuals as well as in group settings. I was able to manage my agenda to accommodate the students' class times via self-scheduling.
As a facilitator, I worked with children ages 6-12 afterschool at an elementary in literacy and math. I worked with children of all different backgrounds and grade levels helping them achieve their educational goals while still inspiring them to have fun and be safe. To ensure that the children were safe, my fellow facilitators and I were CPR/AED/ Children's First Aid certified. I was able to work and grow in a team dynamic with the surrounding teachers in the elementary school as well as the neighboring YMCA facilitators.
At the YMCA day camp, I provided care for up to 12 children on a shift, ages ranging from 5-12 years old. I was involved in the originally organization of the day camp where I, and my peers, orchestrated the structure of the entire camp. After the first summer, I was promoted to senior counselor and aided the YMCA pool as a swim instructor. This experience taught me patience, patience, and more patience.
Physical assessments
I received the "Hands-Up Acknowledgement" after a coworker nominated me for a service excellence award. At one point during the pandemic, I approached a coworker and advised them to wear an N95 Mask in a patient's room that had not been tested yet and whose results/signs and symptoms appeared very "COVID-like". It just so happened that the patient was tested later that day and the test was positive. The honor is given to associates who provide safe healthcare to patients and staff.
