Adept at diagnosing and treating complex pulmonary conditions, I spearheaded the clinical direction at Panama City Pulmonary, LLC, enhancing patient outcomes through evidence-based practices. My expertise in pulmonary & respiratory medical conditions as well as critically ill patients in ICU where rapid interventions and collaborative skills with multi specialty colleagues significantly contributed to advancing pulmonary care standards, demonstrating a commitment to excellence and innovation in critical care medicine.

undefinedAfter completing medical school at Francisco Marroquín university in Guatemala moved to Miami, FL were completed postgraduate training in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary, CCM & Sleep disorders medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital (second largest county hospital in the country) & Mount Sinai Medical Center. During this 7 years was exposed to a diversity of medical conditions that provided me an outstanding opportunity to complete an excellent training program. During my last year in Pulmonary/CCM was elected as chief of fellows by colleague fellows & pulmonary attendings at JMH & Mt Sinai hospitals. This proved been an additional experience in academic activities & collaborative work in training pulmonary/CCM fellows.
Despite having plans for an academic career in Lung Transplant, Pulmonary Hypertension & Bronchiectasis at JMH, a life-threatening event in 2002 (the very last year of my training) proved to be an effective detour in my professional interests. I moved and joined a private practice of pulmonologist in Panama City, FL in 2003. Eventually opened my own practice (Panama City Pulmonary, LLC) in 2010 serving the Florida panhandle for several years in Bay Medical Center, Gulf Coast Medical center, LTAC (Select Care) as well as out-patients in my office. Worked as ICU-hospitalist, director of ICU BMC, pulmonary consults, director of Sleep Laboratory BMC, provided advice at PFT-laboratory working closely with outstanding RT’s. As outpatient, implemented the only cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) in the area that was helpful in determining physiologic variables such as anaerobic threshold (AT), max oxygen consumption (VO2), max CO2 production (vCO2), and assisting Primary Care, Cardiology & Thoracic surgery colleagues in in determining causes of dyspnea as well as preop stratification in patients undergoing cardio thoracic surgeries such as CABG, Valvular replacement and others. Worked intermittently with health dept in cases with infectious diseases such as TB. Also provided assistance as medical director at Pulmonary Rehabilitation program at Bay Medical Center.
Hurricane Michael in 2018 forced me to close my office due to damages, moved to Fort Walton Beach FL and joined and extraordinary group of pulmonologists at White-Wilson Medical Center (WWMC) in order to continue providing care of patients and working in outpt clinic & as consultant at Fort Walton Beach hospital (FWBMC) while repairing my office. On 2020 WWMC opened a clinic in Crestview FL and NOMC provided the opportunity to start a Pulmonary/CCM & Sleep disorders practice. As the rest of the world, the northwest of Florida became affected by COVID-19 pandemia that proved to be a formidable, invisible and in some cases lethal enemy. As the Bible states … pulmonologist and healthcare providers faced “the gates of hell” taking care of critically I’ll patients fighting for their lives. Time passed and after COVID strains became less lethal (although move virulent), new-normals established, medicine changed to pre-COVID and post-COVID, and life has continue since then.
I have considered different options at this stage of my life and after counseling with my wife, children and my Savior, I’ve decided that would like to join Flower’s Hospital in Dothan, Alabama and become part of the Pulm/CCM & Sleep program with additional interest to start a bronchoscopy program and to become part of the already established lung cancer program.
