I work along side my nurses to provide patients with everyday living activities such as; personal/oral care, rehabilitation care, providing a safe and clean living environment, etc. I chart electronically and verbally what happens from the beginning to the end of my shift to the oncoming CNAs.

I was responsible for setting up my room for upcoming patient appointments, I would pull patients back for their visits and chart everything the patient says from the reasoning of their visits, how long they have been experiencing the symptoms, what all they have done medically wise for the reason of their visit, from other appointments, biopsies, medications topically or oral conceptives. I then would reiterate everything me and the patient discussed to my NP and we would enter the room, talk to the patient, come up with a game plan and go from there. If the NP decides a biopsy needs to be done, I would then get measurements of the biopsy site, take pictures for location incase a surgery is needed, numb the area with local numbing medication, and once the biopsy is completed I would label the biopsy cup, place it in the biopsy area, clean the biopsy site and explain to the patient how to care for the area and what to do moving forward. If the NP decided to take a different route, I would take pics of the area, send it whatever medications the NP prescribes and schedule the patients next appointment. Once the appointment is over I would then chart everything into the iPad and make sure everything is done correctly and medication is sent to their preferred pharmacy.

I helped with medication filling, from oral to topical all the way to controlled substances. I had to ensure that all medications were correct, patient information and medication instructions were on the label correctly. I was responsible for inputting insurance, new prescriptions, and processing insurance claims.

I was responsible for providing a clean and safe living environment to our residents. I helped with everyday living activities such as; personal and oral hygiene, cooking and cleaning, physical therapy, Dr appointments, rehabilitation after surgeries, medication distribution, etc. I would then chart everything happening from the beginning to the end of my shift and give report to the CNA relieving me.
